How do in-browser conversions work without uploading to a server?
For browser-feasible image pairs (PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP, ICO), your browser decodes the file, re-encodes it with Canvas/WebAssembly workers, and downloads the result from an in-memory blob. The bytes are never sent over the network, so there is nothing to intercept or store.
What does the server API convert, and what happens to those files?
The REST API genuinely converts image pairs (PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP, ICO, TIFF) and tabular data (CSV, TSV, JSON). Converted output is held in edge cache for one hour so you can download it, then deleted. Pairs that aren't live yet return an honest HTTP 422 "in rollout" — the API never reports a fake completed status.
What are the file size and daily limits?
Uploads are capped at 50 MB on every tier. The free tier covers 5 conversions per day (2 per day for medium-cost pairs), counted per session and per network. Pro is $12/month via Stripe checkout for 500 standard conversions per day. Retention details are in the privacy policy.
Can I integrate OpenFileConverter into my own pipeline?
Yes. The REST API accepts client-issued session bearer tokens, and an MCP server exposes the same capabilities to AI agents (discovery at /.well-known/mcp.json). Team-facing issued API keys are on the roadmap; the current bearer contract is documented at /docs/api/.
